Polarimeter 4 Demo

Engage your students with a color-changing polarimeter.

Teaching optical rotation? Need a polarimeter for the undergrad lab? Monitoring birefringence? Polarimeter 4 Demo turns optical rotation into a color change the whole class can see.

How it works

Teaching optical rotation and specific rotation in an engaging way has never been EZier.

Polarimeter 4 Demo has a built-in dimmable light source, polarization filters, a sample beaker chamber etched with a protractor, and a top cap with a sharp pointer.

  • The top cap pointer points at the degree of optical rotation
  • Optical rotation shows up as an eye-catching change of color and brightness
  • Project it live with your classroom camera
  • Calculate specific rotation and optical purity at a glance

A stunning change of color and brightness

With a chiral sample compound in the beaker, each turn of the cap shifts the color. Green arrows mark the degree of optical rotation.

Why Polarimeter 4 Demo

Designed for teaching

Intuitive and interactive, made specifically for organic chemistry professors and students.

Eye-catching

The shifting color and brightness of polarized light grabs everyone's attention.

Solid build

Made from 100% aluminum. It will outlast expensive research-grade polarimeters.

Easy to use

Virtually no setup. Easier than 1-2-3, whoever is using it.

Works with your samples

Use a chiral compound with the calculations and expected results from the manual, or a sample of your choice. Corn syrup? No problem.

Students go "wow"

You'll have the full attention of the room.
